Akron Garfield graduate Tyson Gulley captured the final SportsInk.com Athlete of the Week honor for 2009-10 with his key reception at the Big 33 football game.
The final SportsInk.com Athlete of the Week for 2009-10 is Akron Garfield graduate Tyson Gulley.
Ohio won the Big 33 senior all-star football game over Pennsylvania 18-15 last Saturday with a big assist from Gulley.
His 53-yard catch and run to the PA 22 set up the go-ahead touchdown for Ohio -- a 17-yard pass from Mark Myers to Christian Bryant with 1:04 to play.
Gulley, now going by Prince-Tyson Gulley, turned a 5-yard reception into a long gainer when he slipped a tackle. A running back, he signed earlier this year with Syracuse University.
He is Athlete of the Week for June 16-22.
Gulley put together some impressive career numbers for the Golden Rams: rushing for 3,490 yards and 39 touchdowns (6.5 yards per carry), nearly 5,300 all-purpose yards, and accounting for 51 touchdowns. The 5-foot-9 dynamo topped 100 career tackles and registered seven interceptions and four blocked kicks on defense.
