Led by senior Jenna Elliott's No. 1 singles title, Green won the Suburban League girls tennis championship on Saturday, ending Revere's 15-year hold on the trophy.

For Green junior Jenna Elliott, tennis is a family affair.

“When I first started playing tennis, I didn't like it," Elliott admitted. "But when I came back to the sport I fell in love and now it's a major part of my life.”

This week's SportsInk.com Athlete of the Week compiled a 17-4 mark and advanced to districts as a sophomore and already this season has a win over Copley.

“I’ve worked real hard this past year on my ground strokes and my overall game,” she said. Elliott practices during the week with her team and on weekends with her coach.

She also has two "coaches" at home. Her parents, Trish and Boyd, own the Green Tennis Club and provide encouragement. “They want me to hit my potential so they are always working with me,” she said.

When Jenna came back to the sport at the age of 12 she appreciated the sport more and now views tennis with some longer term goals. “I hope to play in college," she said. "I don’t know where but I hope to play."

Her older brother, Evan, was a first-team All-Ohio wide receiver for the Bulldog football team and now is a senior grid captain at Ohio Northern University.

Elliott is Green's No. 1 player and loves being a part of the team. “The team has kids from all over Green with different backgrounds, but we have a great time and a common goal of winning,” she said.  “We all get along so well, we are best friends."
