Our Lady of the Elms junior Tessa Haneline is our SportsInk.com Athlete of the Week for Dec. 12-18.
Haneline is a guard and one of the primary reasons the Panthers are off to an impressive 4-1 start. She is averaging 11.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, and 3.5 spg for coach Heather Giel.
"Tessa is a pleasure to coach as she is the first one to the gym and the last one to leave," Giel said. "She makes everyone on the team better."
In wins over Laurel and Western Reserve Academy, Haneline had a combined 33 points, 15 rebounds, and five steals.
"It all started for me in third grade when I realized I had some talent in basketball and I loved the game," Haneline said. "I’m tough to guard because if you double me I will find one of my friends on the court."
She is an enforcer on the floor and she plans on taking those skills to college with her. “I want to get into some type of law enforcement when college comes,” she said.
Haneline also is an active member of the Spanish Club, the Ambassador Program, and the International Club.
"She is great person who is very active in the school and the community, a great person," Giel said.
