The Barberton Magics hope to be celebrating on their home floor again this year when they host the K. Jack Greynolds Memorial Classic on Dec. 29-30. A total of 14 schools will participate in the annual event at the Purple Palace.

GREEN, Ohio -- Senior guard Chris Witmer hit 6-of-7 3-point shots and scored a season-high 26 points in leading Green to a 59-51 win over visiting Copley in Suburban League boys basketball on Friday night.

The Bulldogs led 51-37 on a Witmer triple with 4:43 to play, but the Indians exploded on a 10-0 run to pull within 51-47 on a 3-pointer by senior Alex Szalay at the 2:53 mark.

Witmer and senior guard Zach Pollock each sank 4-of-4 free throws the rest of the way and the Bulldogs (9-3, 5-3) hung on for the win.

Junior forward Andrew Pratt had eight points and 15 rebounds for Green, which avenged an overtime loss to Copley in early December.

Witmer, who hit for 27 points in last year's district semifinal loss to Akron East, stroked 8-of-9 from the foul line.

Senior Jordan Burke and Szaley (four 3-point goals) each had 15 points for Copley (9-5, 5-3).
