Hudson baseball tops Nordonia; Hoban softball triumphs

It's been a rough season, but first-year coach Scott Scalf's Archbishop Hoban softball team got a 4-3 victory at Parma Padua on Tuesday.

 

HUDSON, Ohio – The Hudson baseball team hasn’t done much wrong this season, and that was evident again Tuesday in a 6-0 Northeast Ohio Conference victory over visiting Nordonia.

Junior southpaw John Taylor (2-0) picked up the win. Senior Jimmy Benchek homered for the Explorers.

The Explorers (22-6) limited the Knights (15-12) to just three hits.

Brunswick 4, Parma 3

BRUNSWICK, Ohio – The Blue Devils used a 3-run fifth inning to overtake the visiting Redmen (10-11) in an NOC crossover game.

Garrettsville Garfield 6, Windham 3

WINDHAM, Ohio – Trailing 4-1, the visiting G-Men (13-3, 10-1) scored four runs in the fourth inning en route to defeating the Bombers (6-9) in this Portage Trail Conference County Division game.

In softball games:

Archbishop Hoban 4, Parma Padua 3

PARMA, Ohio – The Knights (6-13) added some joy to a tough season by defeating the host Bruins (12-8). Hoban rallied from a 3-1 deficit after one inning.

Garrettsville Garfield 3, Mogadore 1

MOGADORE, Ohio – All the scoring was in the third inning as the visiting G-Men (13-5) beat the Wildcats (17-6) in this battle of two of the top teams in the PTC.

Waterloo 11, Windham 3

WINDHAM, Ohio – The Vikings (11-7) led this PTC County Division game 9-3 after three innings and kept the host Bombers (0-13) winless.

Streetsboro 10, Rootstown 0

ROOTSTOWN TWP., Ohio – The host Rovers (12-6) have the much better record, but it was the Rockets (8-11) who dominated this PTC County Division game.

Garfield Heights 6, Brush 4

LYNDHURST, Ohio – The Arcs (5-12) got four runs in the sixth inning, but the visiting Bulldogs (17-7) held on for this NOC triumph.
