GREENSBORO, N.C. – Athletes from the Northeast Ohio Conference certainly made an impact at the New Balance Track & Field Nationals held June 16-18 at North Carolina A&T University.
OHSAA Division I girls state champion pole vaulter Alex Wasik, a recent Medina graduate, finished in a ninth place tie, clearing 11-11.25. Wasik is headed to Villanova University.
Brunswick graduate Jesse Braun captured 10th in shot put (55-3).
In the Emerging Elite Division, Nordonia’s Taylor McDonald, who will be a junior in 2011-12, placed 13th in the 400 meters (57.91). Medina senior-to-be Anna Boyert finished 20th in the mile (5:12.54).

All-Star Football
BEREA, Ohio – A dozen Northeast Ohio Conference senior football standouts participated in the 39th annual Cuyahoga County All-Star Scholarship Football Game last Friday at Baldwin-Wallace College.
The West squad won 32-22.
West wide receiver Niko Sidari of Parma Padua was named MVP after catching seven passes for 83 yards and a touchdown.
