GREENSBORO, N.C. – On Wednesday of this week, the Saturday results from the New Balance Track & Field Nationals were published. Twenty-four athletes from the SportsInk.com coverage area competed June 16-18 at North Carolina A&T University.

The Medina boys 4x1 mile relay team -- Robert Robinson, Dan Schwendler, Brent Gaither and David Knack – registered the top finish for area athletes placing fourth (17:52.83).

After a disappointing fifth place showing at the state meet, Highland senior-to-be Natalie Zidd captured eighth in the 800 meters at New Balance (2:13.70). The 2010 Division I state champion, Zidd was clocked at 2:14.43 on June 4 in Columbus.

Jacob Swords of St. Vincent-St. Mary, Ohio’s Division II state champion at 800, capped his brilliant senior campaign with a seventh-place finish (1:50.95). The Loyola of Chicago recruit had won the state meet in 1:51.44. The New Balance 800 champion, Austin Mudd of Greenwood, Ind., posted a time of 1:48.09.
