Hoban, Copley and Black River score soccer victories

AKRON, Ohio – Sophomore Mykaela Zingale scored a second-half goal to lift Archbishop Hoban past visiting Chagrin Falls Kenston 1-0 on Monday night at Dowed Field.

Senior Maria Libertin assisted on the goal and senior goalkeeper Jackie Pfeil made one save for Hoban (6-3-1).

Kenston (7-5-2) was dominated statistically, 9-0 on corners and 9-1 on shots.

BLACK RIVER 11, MARION HARDING 0. At Sullivan Township, senior Kayla Finkel collected four goals and one assist to lead the Pirates (3-6-1) past visiting Marion Harding.

Sydney Wagner and Emily Massie each had two goals for BR.  Senior keeper Leah Sprague had two saves for Black River. Junior Savannah Prater had 17 stops for Harding (0-9-1).

COPLEY 1, BRUNSWICK 0. At Copley, senior goalkeeper Christina Mitchell saved seven shots and freshman Adrianne Parker scored the only goal of the match for the Indians (6-5-3) in a win over Brunswick (3-8-2).

Sophomore Anna Haverchak assisted on the first-half goal.

CLOVERLEAF 3, MIDVIEW 1. At Westfield Township, senior Megan Connor struck for two goals and freshman Lauren Gokey added two assists as the Colts (3-8-0) topped Midview (6-6-0) on Monday night.

AMHERST STEELE 4, BUCKEYE 0. At York Township, Steele won despite eight saves from Buckeye junior goalkeeper Jessica Banas.  Buckeye slipped to 8-5-0, while Steele improved to 8-3-1.

HUDSON 3, TWINSBURG 0.
