CVCA, St. V-M, Hoban, Coventry win in Div. II boys soccer

AKRON, Ohio -- The Archbishop Hoban boys soccer team took a 1-0 lead in the first half and added an insurance goal in the second to defeat Field 2-0 and win a sectional final in Kent Division II District.
Sophomore Ben Easton and senior Dominic Mondello each scored for Archbishop Hoban, while senior Andy Frick assisted on both goals.
Hoban (9-5-1) next plays Monday in the district semifinal at Revere.
Joe Knapp made eight saves in goal for Field, which finishes the season at 11-3-3.
Also in the Kent Division II District:
ST. VINCENT-ST. MARY 3, BUCKEYE 1. At Green Street Stadium in Akron, senior Antonio Manfut scored twice to help the Fighting Irish rally and win the sectional final.
State-ranked St. V-M trailed 1-0 in the contest, until Manfut answered the bell. Dylan Labbe scored St. V-M’s third goal off an assist from Robby Dambrot.
Caleb Kupetz scored for Buckeye (11-3-4) and was assisted by Sheamus Dalton.
St. Vincent-St. Mary next plays Monday in the district semifinals against rival Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.
CUYAHOGA VALLEY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 7, CRESTWOOD 0. At Green's Memorial Stadium, senior Sachem Wilson scored three goals to lead the fourth-seeded Royals to victory in a sectional final.
Sophomore Tim Andrassy scored twice, and sophomore Johnny Akindipe and senior Mike Costa score once apiece in the blowout.
CVCA (11-4-2) next plays Monday in district semifinals against St. Vincent-St. Mary.
In the Brunswick Division II District:
COVENTRY 5, ORRVILLE 1. At Coventry Twp., senior midfielder Eric Ashley scored two goals for the Comets in a sectional final.
Josh Merritt, Dakota Pinkus and Casey Prater also scored for No. 4 seed Coventry (11-3-3), which plays Monday against Marlington (13-2-2) in the district semifinals.
Marlington, on Thursday, defeated Canal Fulton Northwest 11-0.
