GRANGER TWP., Ohio – If the Hornets fail to make the OHSAA state football playoffs, they can thank Cloverleaf junior Robby Buckwald.
Buckwald’s reception of a deflected, 35-yard ‘Hail Mary’ from quarterback Josh Palko as time expired brought the Colts (4-6, 2-5) one of the most stunning victories in school history.
Buckwald rushed for two touchdowns, snared two touchdown passes, passed for one score and kick five extra points as Cloverleaf might have knocked the Hornets (6-4, 3-4) out of the Division II, Region 6 playoff picture.
Highland came into the game sitting No. 5 in the computer poll and ranked seventh in the SportsInk.com Fab 15 Big School survey.
