Revere senior soccer captain Amy Feher is the SportsInk.com Athlete of the Week for Oct. 23-29.
Feher led Revere to an outstanding 13-3-3 season that ended Saturday afternoon with a district final loss to defending national champion Walsh Jesuit.
In the district semifinal match against CVCA, she had a remarkable assist to Marissa Milazzo to get the team a 2-1 overtime win. She also scored the first goal of the game on a header off a corner kick.
“Amy is a special player,” first-year Revere coach David Howson said. “She wants to win everything. She wants to be involved in everything. And it’s great to have a player like that. ""
Feher finished her senior campaign with 19 goals.
“She is a coach's dream and I have never seen someone lead by example more than Feher," Revere assistant coach Pat Cingel said. "She is all energy. She is intense, I just love to watch her play."
She started playing soccer at the age of 8 when her family moved to the Akron area from Orange County, California.
“I saw her all through the younger leagues and beyond, and she has the intensity that you love in a player,” Revere boys soccer coach Sandor Jakab said.
Feher has participated in swimming, golf, softball and basketball, as well as soccer.
“I like the mental aspect of sports, I really try to get all of my teammates involved which keeps them mentally into the game,” she said. “I love to help others on the field and off."
Feher has committed to attend the University of Illinois and play soccer for the Fighting Illini.
“I had it down to two, and the coaching staff and the way Illinois made me feel comfortable was the final factor in my choice,” she said.
