Thanksgiving Day Game Creates Opportunities for Community Members and Athletes to Make Memories and be Thankful

AKRON, Ohio — This year’s Thanks4Giving senior all-star football game will feature entertainment from Ohio Mobile Gaming (OMG) as well as scholarships and awards sponsored by the event. The game, which starts at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24 at St. Vincent- St. Mary’s John Cistone Stadium, will offer a free video game booth of Madden NFL 12 and NCAA Football 12 inside the stadium’s gate near the end zone for families and fans to play and enjoy.

A Most Valuable Player Award will be given to one player from each team at the end of the game. One deserving player from the East will receive the Babe Flossie MVP Award and one West player will receive the John Cistone MVP Award. In addition to their awards, both MVP recipients will each be awarded a $500 scholarship in recognition and in honor of Robert Meeker and Joy Janay Brophy.

Tickets for Thanks4Giving can be purchased from any Akron public high school or at the gate of the event for $7. To continue to show its support to the community, Thanks4Giving plans to give one dollar of each ticket sold by any Akron public school back to that school’s football program.

A donation to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank will also follow the game as well as a donation to the Ronald McDonald House to assist families with housing needs on behalf of the Joy Janay Brophy Fund. The Native American Indian Cultural Center will also sponsor a canned food drive on the day of the event to feed families in need within the community.

The game’s finalized roster will be issued this week along with a tentative schedule of events leading up to the Thanks4Giving game. For more information about Thanks4Giving, visit www.fbcsports.com or find us on Facebook. For more information about OMG, visit www.ohiomobilegaming.com.
