Jack Snowball (Wadsworth), TraVon Chapman (Kent Roosevelt), Deon'Tae Moore (Kenmore) and coaches Ron Wright (Hudson) and John Nemec (Kent Roosevelt) received special district football honors.

Medina County’s all-time single-season rushing leader Jack Snowball and Kent Roosevelt’s dual-threat junior quarterback TraVon Chapman are the Northeast Ohio Inland District Division I and Division II Offensive Players of the Year, respectively.

Snowball, a senior, rushed for nearly 2,600 yards in leading the Wadsworth Grizzlies to the Region 2 Championship football game and a final season record of 11-2. His more than 3,000 all-purpose yards included 31 touchdowns.

Chapman rolled up almost 3,000 yards of total offense and paced the Rough Riders to a Portage Trail Conference Metro Division championship, the school’s first state playoff victory and a final season mark of 10-2.

Chapman’s coach, John Nemec, is the District Division II Coach of the Year.  Having completed his 27th at Kent Roosevelt and with more than 200 career coaching victories, Nemec guided the Riders to a 30-21 playoff victory over Warren Howland – the first in school history.

First-year Hudson leader Ron Wright is the District Division I Coach of the Year. Wright directed the Explorers to an NOC River Division Championship (5-0), a berth in the region semifinals and a season record of 10-2.

The District Division II Defensive Player of the Year is Kenmore junior Deon’Tae Moore. The Cardinals were one of the pleasant surprise teams in 2011, with a 6-4 finish, and Moore was a mainstay for coach Ed Peltz.  The standout outside linebacker accumulated 30 tackles for loss (14 quarterback sacks) and forced five fumbles and blocked three kicks.
