Firestone quarterback Nick Heimbaugh is the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 Thanks4Giving Summit County senior all-star football game.
AKRON, Ohio -- Firestone quarterback Nick Heimbaugh threw three touchdown passes and led the East squad to a 19-6 win at Thursday's Thanks4Giving Summit County senior all-star football game.
The second annual game was staged at St. Vincent-St. Mary's Green Street Stadium.
Heimbaugh and Tallmadge receiver Tucker Linder connected on scoring passes of 16 and 12 yards in the second quarter to give the East a 13-0 lead at half.
At 7:06 of the fourth quarter, Heimbaugh hit Springfield running back Dillon Matthews on a 20-yard touchdown strike to run the score to 19-0.
The West squad added a late touchdown on Copley quarterback Lou Gigliotti's 34-yard pass to Kenmore standout Ben Gulley.
Heimbaugh was named East MVP, while Gulley was selected MVP of the East.
At halftime, North defensive end De'Shawn Dowdy announced his commitment to attend the University of Maryland and play football for the Terrapins.
