MEDINA, Ohio – Medina senior athlete Kenny Kaminski calls it “one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through, especially sitting out here watching my team play knowing I could impact the game.”

A midseason football injury, which resulted in a torn labrum, later required surgery and put an end to Kaminski’s senior basketball season before it began.

Thankfully, there is more basketball in Kaminski’s future.

Having signed with Michigan State in November, the 6-foot-8, 245-pound forward recently (Dec. 28) visited East Lansing, Mich., and saw the Spartans top Indiana, 80-65.

“It’s still going to be a long process,” said Kaminski, prior to the Bees' basketball game against Twinsburg on Dec. 30 at the Greynolds Memorial Classic. “I’m not going to start playing again for another four months. With a lot of therapy and a lot of hard work, I should be all right.”

"Kenny Kaminski is kind of a throwback guy," Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said. "He's a big guy, but he can shoot the ball. He's played football in high school. He's a guy that we think is going to be an incredible stretch-the-defense kind of person. He can really shoot the ball."

Kaminski averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and almost two blocks per game last winter for the Bees.  He gained All-Ohio, All-Northeast Inland District and All-Northeast Ohio Conference notice his junior and sophomore seasons.
