Woodridge junior forward Lizzie Wilkinson scored 13 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs to a 49-46 overtime victory against Collinwood in a sectional final.

 

AKRON, Ohio – St. Vincent-St. Mary benefitted from double-digit scoring efforts from a trio of sophomores Saturday afternoon as the Fighting Irish overpowered Canton GlenOak 80-53 in girls basketball action.

Kiley May led the way with 21 points for the Irish (7-2), who won their sixth game in a row. Shannon Jack dropped in 20 points, and Jordan Korinek scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds for St. V-M, which outscored GlenOak 39-22 in the first half and cruised to victory from there.

MANCHESTER 73, CUYAHOGA VALLEY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 60. At New Franklin, junior Angela Durgala scored 24 points to lead the Panthers over the Royals.

Sophomore Kayci Krzynowek added 18 points for Manchester (11-0, 8-0), which outscored CVCA 42-23 in the first half.

Sophomore Ashley Tyna scored 17 points to lead the way for CVCA. Junior Megan Foley and sophomore Halston Maresh each put up 15 points for the Royals.

LAKE CENTER CHRISTIAN 53, OUR LADY OF THE ELMS 40. At Hartville, senior Jessica Frew led The Elms with 14 points in the losing effort.

Elms (6-4) also got 10 points from sophomore Tessa Haneline.

COVENTRY 39, FIELD 29. At Brimfield Township, junior Kristi Morisak’s 13 points led the Comets over the Falcons in a PTC Metro Division matchup.

Freshman Camille Adelman score 10 points to pace Field (5-5, 3-4).

CUYAHOGA FALLS 40, PARMA 31. At Cuyahoga Falls, senior center Logen Breehl scored 19 points to lead the Black Tigers in the victory in an NOC Lake Division matchup.

Cuyahoga Falls held Parma to just 12 points in the first half.

Shannon Connelly led Parma with 10 points.

ARCHBISHOP HOBAN 72, BEAUMONT 43. At Cleveland Heights, Hoban (10-0) remained undefeated with a lopsided road win.

Janaya Feaster led the Knights with 20 points, followed by Meghan Donohue’s 10-point effort. Allie Griffth and Emma Horning each scored eight for Hoban.

Annie Bova scored 19 to lead Beaumont.

BUCHTEL 87, LUTHERAN EAST 27. At Cleveland Heights, Ashaunte’ Dent led the Griffins with 18 points.

Patience Carroll and Beunca Thomas scored 18 points and 17 points, respectively for Buchtel, which outscored Lutheran East 43-6 in the second half.

MEDINA 63, MAYFIELD 55. At Mayfield, juniors Angela Tesny and Sarah Kinch each scored 19 points as the Bees remained undefeated in Northeast Ohio Conference play.

Medina (9-2, 5-0) also got 12 points from Erin Pacholski.

The Bees closed the game by outscoring Mayfield 25-17 in the fourth quarter.

CRESTWOOD 56, STREETSBORO 39. At Streetsboro, Allison Vannoy and Holly Hoffman each scored 14 points for Crestwood as the Red Devils downed the host Rockets.

Crestwood held Streetsboro to under 10 points in each of the first three quarters.

Streetsboro was led by Megan Densmore (14 points) and Rachael Kolke (10 points).

SOLON 76, STOW-MUNROE FALLS 44. At Stow, four players scored in double figures for the Comets, led by junior Martha Thompson, who put up 20 points.

Senior Jamie Gluesing and sophomore Kristen Confroy each scored 14 points for Solon (8-2), while sophomore Alexis Gray added 10 points.

Senior Alex Shaver and junior Abbie Lawson each scored 10 points for Stow-Munroe Falls (7-3).

WOODRIDGE 52, WATERLOO 39. At Atwater, junior post Lizzie Wilkinson was a force for Woodridge, scoring 21 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in the Bulldogs’ victory over the host Vikings.

Woodridge (10-0) outscored Waterloo (4-5) 18-8 in the first quarter, and the teams play relatively close the rest of the way.

Waterloo junior Jamie Willis led the Vikings with 26 points.

HUDSON 75, MENTOR 54. At Hudson, the host Explorers got 19 points from senior Laura Mummey and won easily.

Senior Christie Wade scored 15 points for Hudson. Junior Hannah Boesinger put up 13 points, and Margo Camp added 11 for the Explorers (7-2, 3-2).

TWINSBURG 80, STRONGSVILLE 20. At Twinsburg, the defending state champion Tigers proved to be way too much for Strongsville.

Senior center Malina Howard led all scorers with 20 points, followed by Leah Fechko (17 points) and junior Ashley Morrissette (13 points).

Twinsburg improved to 10-2, while Strongsville dropped to 3-9.
