Manchester senior basketball star Michelle Noble is the SportsInk.com Athlete of the Week for Jan. 1-7
On the season Noble is averaging nine points, 13 rebounds, five steals and four assists per game.
Noble is leading the way for the Panthers as they are off to an 11-0 start under coach Tucker Pappas. A year ago, Manchester achieved a No. 1 ranking in the Division III state poll for several weeks.
“She is the most talented player I have ever coached and her desire is something everyone wishes they had,” Pappas said.
Noble got her start on the court just shooting around with her older brother Mark, and as they grew so did their love for the game.
“Dad played and Mark was real talented and I guess that is where my passion began,” Noble said.
Mark Noble was a multi-sport athlete at Manchester who graduated in 2011 and is now in the National Guard.
Noble is heavily involved in other aspects at Manchester as a cheerleader as well as a distance runner in the spring on the track team.
“I knew we had something special after her first five games on the varsity team as a freshman,” Pappas said. “The other players did not want to play offense against Michelle.”
“I guess I’m just a scrappy player who hustles and then I see what happens, but I’m a follow-me type of leader for our team,” Noble said.
Noble is getting a lot of attention from college basketball scouts as they see her versatility. Division II and NAIA schools are taking in most Panthers games these days.
“We have played her at the point as well as the post, she can really do it all for us,” Pappas said.
Noble has a true love for animals as she wants to get into some type of work with animals in college.
“Desire and hustle, those are the words I think of when you mention Michelle Noble,” Pappas said.
