DRESDEN, Ohio – The Barberton Magics wrestling team had a great weekend, finishing second at Tri-Valley High School’s Tri-Valley Duals.

Four Barberton wrestlers went undefeated during the two days of competition: Sonny Shump at 120 pounds, Austin Rice at 152 pounds, 195-pounder Aaron Tschantz, and Vernon Rowe at 220 pounds.

Cobey Fehr (126 pounds) beat three-time state-placer and Div. III ranked Jeremy Border from Caldwell before losing to three-time state champion and nationally ranked David Jefferies (Parkersburg South) in a hard-fought match.

Barberton dominated as a team except for a 40-24 loss to perennial West Virginia state power Parkersburg South. Along the way, the Magics defeated Streetsboro (58-15), Hawken (64-9), Smithville (50-25), Utica (63-9), Maysville (65-6), Heath (73-6), Caldwell (43-24), Tri-Valley (55-19) and Marlington (64-12).
