Suburban League swimming meets dotted the area athletic schedule on Wednesday. From earlier this month, Green celebrates a relay victory at Nordonia. The SL championship swim meet is next week.

Dual meet swimming action continued Wednesday in the Suburban League at both Copley High School and the Akron General Health & Wellness Center in Montrose.

The boys and girls teams from Copley overwhelmed Tallmadge at Simmons Memorial Natatorium. The Indians won the boys meet 130-36 and the girls 128-42.

Revere hosted Green at the Akron General pool facility and the result was a split with the Minutemen winning the girls 102-67 and the Bulldogs snaring the boys 91-78.

Freshmen have been instrumental in the success of the Copley girls team this season -- Sydney Bailey, Mayu Canode, Madison Myers, Brenda Prifti and Emma Round -- and they all contributed plenty of points in the win over Tallmadge.

Senior Tessa Haramis, junior Abby Caye and sophomore Gabriella Rodriguez also made major contributions for coach Ed Burnsed's squad.

Myers was a double winner in the 100-yard freestyle (55.05) and 100 breaststroke (1:11.49). Round won the 100 butterfly (1:12.46) and 100 backstroke (1:10.11).

Tallmadge junior Brittany DiFiore was second in the 100 breaststroke and fourth in the 100 freestyle.

Senior Henry Signore won the 500 freestyle (5:26.37) and the 100 backstroke (1:01.57) for the Indians boys team.

Revere's trio of Emma Gresser, Maggie Harris and Alex Poitinger was too much for the Green girls.

Gresser won the 200 IM (2:17.56) and 500 free (5:32.39). Harris captured the 50 free (25.52) and the 100 free (56.69).  Poitinger also was a double winner in the 200 free (1:59.71) and 100 back (1:06.74).

Revere swept all three relays on the girls side and received a nice contribution from Sami House on the 200 medley and 400 freestyle teams.

Freshman Alexandria Shockey won the 100 breaststroke (1:15.49) and swam that leg on the 200 medley team.

Green boys ace Ricky Angeletti had a relay team win as well as victories in the 200 free (1:59.02) and 500 free (5:25.42).

Revere's Luke Mierzejewski was a two-event winner in the 200 IM (2:16.27) and the 100 breaststroke (1:09.35). Jon Davis also provided two wins for the Minutemen in the 50 free (23.41) and 100 free (51.47).

Green used superior depth to edge Revere in the boys meet.
