BRIMFIELD TWP., Ohio -- Norton's girls basketball team rallied for a 53-49 victory over Field on Saturday in a Portage Trail Conference Metro Division game.
Norton, already battling injuries, suffered foul trouble early and fell behind 14-6.
Senior Breanna Hlas came in after missing two weeks due to injury and helped push the Panthers to a 29-27 halftime lead.
Junior Jaclyn Fortner scored 18 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Norton (10-5). Senior Alyssa Krauss had 11 points, and junior Cara Cook pitched in 10.
Field senior Emily Mortimer led all scorers with 23 points and added 12 rebounds along the way. Senior Jacqueline Ricketson had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Field (9-7).
HUDSON 55, STOW-MUNROE FALLS 51. At Stow, senior Laura Mummey and junior Brynne Drohan each scored 12 points to help the Explorers to the win over the Bulldogs. Senior Christie Wade chipped in 11 points for Hudson (13-2).
Stow-Munroe Falls (10-5) was led by senior Alex Shaver, who scored 22 points.
CUYAHOGA VALLEY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 62, BUCHTEL 38. At Akron, the Royals used a 20-10 first quarter and a 15-4 fourth quarter to earn the victory over the Griffins.
Senior Cassie Wilson went off for 22 points to lead CVCA (13-4). Junior Megan Foley dropped in 11 points
Paetyn McGuire led Buchtel (5-9) with 13 points. Ashaunte’ Dent chipped in 10 points.
ARCHBISHOP HOBAN 53, PADUA FRANCISCAN 36. At Akron, Janaya Feaster led the way for the Knights with 18 points, and Hoban improved to 15-1.
Meghan Donohue had nine points for Hoban, which outscored Padua 25-12.
Leena Clint scored 10 for Padua (5-10).
CUYAHOGA FALLS 41, BRUSH 30. At Cuyahoga Falls, senior Logen Breehl scored 13 points to help the Black Tigers top the Arcs.
Brush was led by Narissa Williams’ 13 points.
COVENTRY 39, STREETSBORO 36. At Coventry Township, junior Kristi Morisak scored 11 points to lead the Comets over the Rockets.
Alison Targosky scored 14 points to lead Streetsboro, while Rachael Kolke added 11.
WOODRIDGE 54, GARRETTSVILLE GARFIELD 23. At Garrettsville, Morgan Thompson scored 17 to lead Woodridge.
SOUTHEAST 54, MOGADORE 50. At Mogadore, the Pirates had to rally and then hold on to beat the Wildcats.
Junior Shayna White exploded for 27 points to propel Southeast to the PTC County Division victory. Senior Emily Harsh scored 16.
Sophomore Ashley Barker paced Mogadore (4-13) with 12 points, while freshman Grace Reilly put up nine points. Mogadore’s Naomi Pollock had nine points.
NORTH ROYALTON 65, MEDINA 60 (OT). At North Royalton, Alison Smolinski and Abby Miduri each scored 13 points for the Bears, who outscored the Bees 10-5 in overtime to take the victory.
Medina senior Pari Yost scored 21 to lead the Bees (11-4) in the losing effort. Senior Erin Pacholski put up 13 points, while junior Sarah Kinch had 10.
Lisa Petro scored 12 points for North Royalton (10-6).
NORTHWEST 57, BARBERTON 39. At Barberton, the Magics fell to the Indians despite a 16-point performance from senior Jessie Frost.
Sophomore Kelsey Wilson scored eight points for Barberton (7-9).
Tess Serb led Northwest (4-11) with 15 points. Rachel DeGuia scored 14 for Northwest.
TALLMADGE 59, NORDONIA 37. At Tallmadge, the Blue Devils (11-5) got 15 points from senior Haley Congrove and 14 points from junior Leah Makuch en route to the win over the Knights.
Senior Sara Andrasik led Nordonia with 17 points.
WALSH JESUIT 76, NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL LATIN 29. At Cuyahoga Falls, freshman Lilli Piper led the Warriors with 15 points.
Seniors Liz Reeves and Courtney Iacobacci scored 13 points and 10 points, respectively for Walsh Jesuit (12-4).
The Warriors jumped on NDCL early with a 20-1 lead after the first quarter. Walsh led 50-10 at the half.
CLOVERLEAF 54, COPLEY 38. At Westfield Township, senior Shelby Dearth hit three 3-pointers en route to her team-leading 21 points for the Colts (8-9, 5-6).
Senior Adrea Baughman finished with 10 points for Cloverleaf.
Copley’s Kaela Drake pitched in 13 points to lead the Indians (2-13, 1-10).
CRESTWOOD 47, SPRINGFIELD 29. At Mantua, the Red Devils led 18-10 after the first quarter and rode out the Spartans for the victory.
Olivia Phillips scored 17 points to lead the way for Crestwood (9-7). Dannise Johnson added 10 points.
Senior McKenzie Hedrick paced Springfield (3-13) with 8 points.
