Green junior forward Dan Fanelly scored 20 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 71-51 Suburban League win over the Highland Hornets on Tuesday.

GREEN, Ohio – The host Green Bulldogs defeated the Highland Hornets 71-51 on Tuesday night, thanks in large part to a 14-3 surge that spanned the entire second quarter and put Green up 31-17 at halftime.

Junior forward Dan Fanelly powered the Bulldogs (8-5, 7-2) with 20 points, while seniors Evan Keeslar and Andrew Pratt helped to put the game out of reach of the Hornets.  Keeslar dumped in 19 points, while Pratt added 12 points.

The win marks the third straight for Green, all Suburban League victories, while they try to chase down Nordonia for the SL title.  The Knights are undefeated in league play.  The Bulldogs have won four of five games since dropping a 62-51 decision to Nordonia on January 6.

Highland (6-8, 3-6) was paced by Adam Bialosky’s 19 points.  Junior Austin Adams also scored 16 points for the Hornets in the losing effort.  If not for the lopsided second quarter, Highland kept fairly even with Green, but could never jump out and seize the momentum in the second half.

NORDONIA 63, WADSWORTH 49. At Wadsworth, the Knights battled back from an 18-12 deficit in the second quarter to tie the game at 30 heading into halftime, Nordonia (12-2, 9-0) put the host Grizzlies (7-7, 5-4) in the rearview mirror with a 17-8 run in the third quarter to remain perfect in the SL.

Senior Tyler Tinfina was critical in the Knights second quarter surge, hitting four 3-pointers in that period for Nordonia.  Tinfina ended the game with 12 points.

Seniors Nick Rodriguez and Jarrett Ruffin both scored 15 points for the Knights in the win.  Wadsworth senior Josh Kipfer led all scorers with 23 points.

Both teams had three players score in double figures and Revere’s top scorers actually outpaced the Indians’ top performers 51-46, but Copley received 31 points from five role players to just 16 from six Minutemen scorers.

The Indians were led by junior Jayln Tyler with 18 points.  Seniors C.J. Chatman and Alex Kormushoff scored 15 and 13 points, respectively, to aid in the victory.
