YORK TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Very seldom in high school basketball does a team have three 20-point scorers and lose -- especially at home.
Yet, that is what happened to Buckeye on Friday night in a 76-68 loss to visiting Wellington (13-2).
The Bucks (6-10) were paced by Bill Doerge (23 points), Ben Checkelsky (22) and Garrett Beck (21), but lost the second quarter 23-12 and were unable to make it up.
Wellington offset Buckeye's offensive outburst by placing five players in double figures led by Nathan Starkey's 20 points.
Wellington outscored Buckeye 21-7 at the foul stripe.
