BARBERTON, Ohio -- One team flying under the radar this girls basketball season is Norton.

The defending district champions are hiding on the bottom line of the Uniontown Lake Division II District bracket, while state-ranked teams in Archbishop Hoban and Manchester garner most of the attention.

On Monday, Norton improved to 12-4 with a workmanlike 52-35 win at Barberton (7-11).

Cara Cook scored 15 points and Alyssa Kraus added 10 for the Panthers.

Foreign exchange student student Emma Nilsson had 11 points for the Magics.

ST. VINCENT-ST. MARY 58, BEAUMONT 40. At Cleveland Heights, senior Taja Dave scored 19 points in victory for the Irish (11-6).

Sophomore Shannon Jack added 14 points for coach Joe Jakubick's team.

FIRESTONE 60, COPLEY 31. At Copley Township, senior guard Shaia Horton fired in 25 points and junior Mishae Roper gathered 14 points and 22 rebounds as the Falcons (15-4) cruised to victory.

Freshman Meghan Preston scored 13 points for Copley.
