Hudson senior diver Taryn McLaughlin scored 501.70 points en route to her sectional championship Wednesday at the University of Akron. She advances to the district meet at Cleveland State.

AKRON, Ohio -- A handful of area divers competed in the Girls Division I Sectional meet Wednesday at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium. The top 16 placers earned a spot in the district competition at Cleveland State.

Hudson's Taryn McLaughlin was the sectional champion wth 501.70 points. Walsh Jesuit's Kailey Francetic was second with 415.35 points, followed by McLaughlin's Hudson teammate Rachel Speakmen in third place with 397.55 points.

Other SportsInk.com area divers advancing to the district meet are: Erika Shane (Cuyahoga Falls), Nicole Rosza (Cuyahoga Falls), Gwen Baker (Kent Roosevelt), Hailey Wetta (Medina) and Maddie Fortune (Firestone).

Solon's Sivan Mills won the sectional at Solon High School and will also advance to districts, along with teammate Olivia Kreft.
