PTC: Streetsboro boys basketball still in the hunt in Metro

STREETSBORO, Ohio -- The Streetsboto Rockets used a big fourth quarter to polish off Field, 63-40, and stay within striking distance of Portage Trail Conference Metro leader Kent Roosevelt.

Ben Gency scored 21 points to lead the way for Streetsboro (12-5, 10-2), which outscored Field 20-8 in the fourth quarter.

Jordan Matusik and Sawyer White each scored nine points for the Rockets.

Senior Jake Kruse led Field with 20 points.

Senior Kody Lowden added 10 points for the Falcons.

RAVENNA 67, COVENTRY 43.  At Ravenna, the Ravens boys basketball team had a pair of players score in double digits Friday night as they defeated Portage Trail Conference foe Coventry.

Jermaine Justice scored 17 points to pace Ravenna, which outscored the Comets 33-15 in the first half.

Tyler Plaso added 13 points for the Ravens.

Coventry was led by Tylor Plaso’s 10 points, and George Jacobs chipped in nine points.

Ravenna closed strong with a 24-13 fourth quarter.

EAST CANTON 44, WATERLOO 42. At Atwater, the Vikings rallied but fell short at home against the Hornets.

Senior Jacob Podnar led the Vikings with 15 points. Tom Saviers dropped in 12 points for Waterloo, and Dakota Dorsey added eight points.

The victors were led by Sam Elseser’s 16 points.

STREETSBORO 63, FIELD 40. At Streetsboro, the Rockets outscored the Falcons 20-8 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory and stay within striking of PTC Metro leader Kent Roosevelt.

WINDHAM 62, MOGADORE 49. At Windham, the Bombers picked up their 11th win of the season.

Junior Cameron Pozsgai had a big night scoring with 27 points for Windham (11-7, 8-4). Junior teammate Matt Knight put up 13 points.

Senior Michael Duma led Mogadore with 14 points. Junior Hunter VanCamp scored 11 points for the Wildcats.

WOODRIDGE 50, ROOTSTOWN 45. At Peninsula, the Bulldogs took an early lead and fought off a rally by the Rovers to secure the victory.

Junior Nelson Perry scored 20 points to lead the way for Woodridge (11-5, 9-3).

Rootstown’s Mike Conley had 14 points for the Rovers (10-8, 6-6). Josh Lane and Nevada Lemon each scored 10 points for Rootstown.
