The Jackson Polar Bears (18-1) shut down Hudson's offense to win the Kent Division I District on Saturday night. Jackson plays Green at Brush High School in a regional semi on Tuesday.
JACKSON TWP -- Hudson's terrific postseason run ran into a brick wall on Saturday night.
The Explorers (8-6-2) had dominated rival Stow to reach the Kent Division I District final, but powerful Jackson (18-1-0) wouldn't budge.
The Polar Bears put Hudson's offense in a deep freeze and ended its season 3-0 in Stark County.
"It starts with great defense. The guys in the back held the fort down and really didn't give Hudson very many looks at all, until the offense got going," Jackson coach Michael Biros said.
Jackson popped in two first-half goals and cruised to a berth in the regional semifinal against backyard rival Green on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Brush High School.
Senior co-captain Brian Zilla broke the ice with a tally at 25:11 to make it 1-0. Senior Jimmy Costin assisted on the next two goals, scores by Ryan Galley and co-captain Derek Zuniga, to complete the scoring.
