Hunter Heaton is leading the Medina Bees to the OHSAA Division I Boys Cross Country race this Saturday at Scioto Downs in Columbus.

TIFFIN – Senior distance ace Hunter Heaton and the Medina boys cross country team have one more race left in their 2009 season.

Heaton won the Division I Tiffin Regional and lifted the Bees to a third place finish and helped punch their ticket for a Saturday trip to Scioto Downs and the OHSAA state event.

Heaton was one of three racers to run under 16 minutes over 5,000 meters. Medina junior David Knack finished 13th.

In the Division II race, Buckeye freshman Ryan Gallagher placed 16th to grab the final individual state meet qualifying position. Gallagher’s time of 16:43.04 was five seconds faster than the next racer, leaving him just enough breathing room to make it to Columbus.
