The SportsInk.com Athlete of the Week is Woodridge senior running back Anthony Kelly.

Woodridge senior running back Anthony Kelly is the SportsInk.com Athlete of the Week for Nov. 16-22.

Kelly was sensational during the Bulldogs' run through the Division IV, Region 13 playoffs and rushed for more than 200 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 58-28 loss to Chagrin Falls on Saturday.

“I’m more proud of Anthony for turning his life around, moreso than his achievements as a football player,” Woodridge football coach Eric Ervin said. Kelly started his high school career at GlenOak but transferred to Woodridge as a sophomore and the rest is history.

He broke into the starting lineup midway through last season and topped 1,000 rushing yards. This season, Kelly has scored 27 touchdowns and rushed for 2,210 yards. He was named Northeast Inland District Division IV Offensive Player of the Year.

“I’ve loved football since I played at the pee-wee level and it has grown since,” said Kelly. He anticipates playing in college and has received considerable attention since the 2009 season began.
