Jeff Brewer (General Manager, SportsInk beats: soccer, wrestling, track & field) was a college sports information director for 19 years before starting SportsInk, LLC, a sports media and consulting business, in 2002. As a college SID, he received 20 awards for excellence in writing and publications while at Penn State for seven years, and was Director of Athletic Communications six years for the University of Akron. His sports media and consulting business has served a variety of clients leading to the creation of SportsInk.com. Brewer has officiated high school basketball for 20 years and soccer for 10 years. Eric Barnes (Copy Editor, private school beat) has more than 12 years experience as a sports
editor at daily newspapers in Portland, Ind., Valdosta, Ga., and Ocala, Fla., and most recently was the assistant managing editor for new media at the Star-Banner in Ocala. In that role, Eric was responsible for managing content for the newspaper's website, which had more than 500,000 visitors and six million page views per month. Ray Horner (SportsInk beats: Suburban League, football, girls basketball, softball) recently received the “Best Morning Program” award from the Press Club of Cleveland for his work on “The Ray Horner Show” with Rubber City Radio Group and WAKR. The Play-by-Play Voice of Allegheny College for 17 years before joining RCRG in 2000, Horner began his career as an Overnight Announcer in the early 1980s and became Program Director for Great Circle Broadcasting in 1985. He hosted a Morning Show on WMGW Radio in Meadville, Pa., for eight years. In addition to serving as Morning Show Host for WAKR, he also serves as the lead Sports Play-by-Play Announcer. Brad Bournival (SportsInk beats: football, wrestling, baseball) brings 13 years of journalism experience and a tradition of sports-writing excellence. A multiple Ohio Sports Writer Association and Associated Press award winner, he has been named the feature writer of the year on three separate occasions – twice for the OPSWA and once for AP. He worked 11 years for the Medina Gazette and added writing stints at the Lorain Morning Journal and CoachesAid.com, while appearing as a freelance writer in the Plain Dealer. He served as the football, soccer, wrestling, softball and baseball beat writer for The Gazette and was the Ohio State beat writer as well, covering two Fiesta Bowls and a national championship for the paper. John Urchek (SportsInk beats: Portage Trail Conference, cross country) is a Massillon Jackson High School and Kent State University graduate. He has put his broadcast journalism degree to good use as a publicist for the Akron Racers professional fastpitch softball team the last four seasons.
