LARRY'S CITY NOTES
By LARRY STATES

It’s good to be back to bring you up to date on what’s happening in the Akron City Series in this high school sports season.

I’m looking forward to football in the city this fall because it appears at least four teams will have a legitimate shot at the title. While defending champion Buchtel has to be considered the favorite to repeat, runner-up Garfield, minus the Gulley brothers, will still have a say in the race thanks to its strong defense. And Firestone and Ellet also return a lot of veteran starters who played well at the end of last season.

Speaking to the coaches in our One-A-Day Football Camp reports SportsInk.com is featuring this month, all had more confidence it will be a more competitive race this season. If they're right -- and I'm right on my hunch -- then it could be a real exciting season that will go right down to the wire.
