Archbishop Hoban coach T.K. Griffith spent the year hoping that the development of his young team would pay dividends come tournament time. A very strong league performance netted the Knights an NCL Blue Division title with a 10-3 record. “We went through the season and we got better, we lost a few games that I didn’t think we should lose, but in a lot of our games we had different people step up in clutch moments,” Griffith said.
The Knights’ season ended abruptly with a first-round sectional defeat at the hands of the Marlington Dukes 63-47. Hoban guard Evan Pannell was lost for the game in a first-quarter collision under the basket. Without Pannell and his ability to create opportunities for his teammates, the Knights struggled offensively.
The bottom line for the Knights is that they had a winning season with only three seniors. Adam Zsely, A.J. Pero and Norm Jesser and their leadership qualities will be missed. However, disappointment will be replaced by anticipation as next year could be ...
