CANTON -- Defending champion St. Vincent-St. Mary is one win from a return trip to the OHSAA state boys basketball tournament.
Standing in the Fighting Irish’s way, however, is a most formidable foe today at 3 p.m. in the Canton Civic Center Division II Regional final.
Cleveland Benedictine -- one of Ohio’s most storied football schools -- has been on a collision course with St. V-M throughout this season.
Now, the local powers meet in the Elite Eight, and the Bengals’ most anticipated postseason game in many years.
“They beat us once this season already at their place, so we know how good they are,” Fighting Irish coach Dru Joyce said. “But believe me, we’ll be prepared for them.
“There are some things we feel like they can be exploited with, just like I’m sure there are things they feel like they can impose on us.”
