JEFF'S TAKE ON OHSAA

The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) has its dominoes lined up right this time.

Having learned from the vote last May which saw principals statewide vote 332-303 to defeat a referendum proposal aimed at competitive balance, the OHSAA Board of Directors and the competitive balance subcommittee had to do a better job this time around to gain passage.

The membership wanted clarity.

The membership wanted modifications.

The membership wanted transparency.

They also wanted resolution of the Division I football issue, which many believed was a foundation piece of competitive balance.

The six weeks leading up to May 1, and the start of the two-week window for a second try on the statewide vote, saw a lot of information crammed into a short amount of time and most are applauding the effort.

It likely will be remembered as one the busiest periods in the OHSAA's administrative history.
