One year ago, Strongsville’s football team saw its high hopes and playoff aspirations disappear when it was done in by a brutal non-league schedule. The Mustangs lost their first four games and stumbled to an uncharacteristic 3-7 campaign.

Could history be repeating itself in 2010?

In Week 2, the Mustangs dropped their second straight game against an area pigskin power, 38-17 to visiting Mentor. The decisive defeat came despite a 20-for-31, 243-yard night by quarterback Austin Pritchard and 11 catches for 146 yards by University of Iowa-bound tight end Ray Hamilton.

Strongsville, which was coming off a 9-5 loss to Euclid, also has its work cut out this week when it hosts unbeaten Parma Padua in its final true non-league game.

While the Mustangs are struggling, five Northeast Ohio Conference squads are soaring with 2-0 records.
