RAY'S SL NOTES
By RAY HORNER

Let’s take a trip around the Suburban League, as we have plenty of football and basketball news.

Football

Hats off to the two new coaches in the SL, Phil Heyn and Jeff Sharkey, as both Revere and Barberton came up with impressive opening-season wins. Heyn's Minutemen shut out Akron East, 20-0, while Sharkey's Magics outlasted Cuyahoga Falls, 14-13.

“We are really excited about getting the victory on the road last week. We played a more physical style of football,” Sharkey said.

“We still have to get more balanced on offense, but I am very pleased with the win."

The Barberton rushing attack was tremendous, with Brandon James gaining 101 yards and fellow senior Joe Rogers chipping in with 83.

On defense, the Magics were was led by senior Sean Connor with 11 tackles.
