Manchester junior point guard Morgan VanScoy was one of three Panthers selected to the All-PAC 7 all-star team. Awards for boys hoops and wrestling also were announced.
The Principals Athletic Conference has released their All-Conference teams for basketball and wrestling. Highlighting the list are three boys basketball players, five girls basketball players and nine wrestlers from Manchester and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.
In boys basketball, a pair of junior big men represent the Manchester Panthers. Center Mark Noble and forward Nick Miller made the thirteen man team. Senior forward Xavier Douglas was the only Royal selected to the squad.
Manchester senior forward Connor Mottice and CVCA senior guard Alex Mosteller earned honorable mention honors.
In girls basketball, a trio of Panthers made the cut, giving Manchester a tie with Tuscarawas Valley for most players selected to the All-Star team. Seniors Amber Silver and Karla Horvat were joined by junior Morgan VanScoy as Manchester’s representatives. The junior duo of forward Katie Defer and guard Eleni Miller take the honor of representing CVCA in girls hoops.
Senior Jackie Bonnett represented Manchester with an honorable mention, as did CVCA sophomore forward Cassandra Wilson.
Coach of the year Don Lorence brought an astonishing seven of his Royals with him to the All-Conference wrestling team, giving CVCA a representative at half of the weight classes. 103-Nathan Tomasello, state tournament champion, 125-Seth Powers, conference champion, 135-Zak Vargo, earned a third place state finish, 145-Brandon Sommers, earned a fifth place state finish, 152-David Gray, conference champion, 160-Matt Meadows, earned an eighth place state finish, and 171-Alex Utley, conference champion all represent CVCA.
Meanwhile, Kyle Kelly and Shane Brown represent Manchester. Kelly earned a fourth place finish at the state meet and Shane Brown finished fifth at the state meet.
Three Royals also made the honorable mention squad with Josh Decatur (119), Matt Dobben (130) and Nick Havener (140) earning the honors. Kyle Ferguson (103) and Josh Kapper (125) received honorable mention for the Panthers.
