Second-ranked Walsh meets No. 1 Tiffin Columbian
ONTARIO -- The girls basketball playoffs in Ohio have reached the Sweet 16.
Sixteen district winners will be whittled to four by end of play on Saturday. So, why not start the Round of 16 off with a duel in the streets, just like those old cowboy movies.
In Division II tonight at Ontario High School, second-ranked Walsh Jesuit (22-2), champion of the Uniontown Lake District, plows into No. 1 ranked, undefeated Tiffin Columbian.
Columbian's top player -- 6-foot-2 Jill Stein -- is headed to Bowling Green.
The Warriors and coach Pete Zaccari will look for their ace, sophomore point guard Rachel Theriot, to lead the way. Theriot had a career-high 30 points in district title win over Ravenna.
Tip time is at 8. The winner will have the inside track on the state title.
Walsh Jesuit lost the regional final at Ontario 50-48 a year ago to Wapakoneta, which fell in the state championship game to Hathaway Brown.
