FORT WAYNE, IND – For the best senior track and field athletes in Ohio, the OHSAA State Meet was not the final competition of the year.
The Midwest Meet of Champions, staged last Saturday (June 12) at Northrop High School in Fort Wayne, Ind., brought together the best athletes from Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.
Five athletes from the SportsInk.com coverage area won championships as the Buckeye State dominated the meet, sweeping the men’s and women’s titles.
Individual event winners from Ohio included: John Spooney (Nordonia ) in the 100 meters (11.06) and Jake Hiltner (Wadsworth) in the 800 (1:50.51).
Among relay champions were: Brad Adams (CVCA) in the 4x800 (7:43.45), Kachay Hullum (Buchtel) in the 4x200 (1:39.39) and Erica Hutson (St. Vincent-St. Mary) in the 4x400 (3:43.49).
Ohio won the men’s meet, accumulating 201.50 points and racing past Michigan (139.00) and Indiana (132.50).
